Boston Sidecar
Nothing says Monday like a 3 shot martini! Welcome to one of my favorite drinks: the Boston Sidecar. It's such a balanced combination of flavors and the optional sugar rim almost transforms it into a totally different drink by bringing out more of the citrus notes. Warning: this goes down really easy and you won't realize how strong the first one was until you're half way through the second.
Ingredients:
Bacardi Rum
Triple Sec
Brandy (E&J VSOP)
Fresh Lime
Sugar (optional)
If you want a touch of sweetness, start by wetting the top of a martini glass with a lime wedge. Put a little sugar on a flat plate and slowly rotate the top of the glass around in the sugar to coat. Add equal parts (I use 1 jigger on the weekend or more like an ounce for a weeknight) of rum, triple sec, brandy and fresh lime juice to a shaker with ice. Shake for at least 20 seconds to give it a good chill and strain into the glass.
